PARSIFAL, playingfields, THE GAME invites us to reflect upon the role of compassion in the transition towards a sustainable society.
To tell the story, PARSIFAL uses many techniques and ways of storytelling. Two premisses are the starting points in the concept:
1. Because we don’t believe that one single leader will come to save us (from the current crisis or any other misfortune), we have taken Parsifal, the main character, out of the story. A saviour will not come. We have to do it ourselves.
In order to find ‘salvation’, the audience members will step into Parsifal’s footsteps, finish his quest and bring back the spear.
2. We are shifting from a culture of re-presentation towards a culture of presence. The adaptation of the opera follows this shift by radically changing it’s artistic expression and way of story-telling.
